THE INITIAL ORIENTATION OF HOMING PIGEONS OBSERVED BY RADAR

Abstract

SUMMARY Homing pigeons were supplied with a radar target and followed from the launch point in the open sea by ship's radar. The target does not alter the pigeon's orientation behaviour and allows bearings to be noted beyond the limits of binocular visibility.
