Percepción y análisis de las políticas públicas de la producción de maíz en el centro oriente de Puebla, México

Abstract

This research evaluated the effects of the agricultural policies in central-east Puebla, Mexico, as well as how producers perceive the implementation and its outcomes. To carry out the work, a questionnaire was answered by 95 corn producers and a policy analysis matrix was applied. According to the results, there is a deficit in the ratio production cost/sale income. The private cost ratio and the internal resource cost ratio showed that the corn is efficient and non-profitable. They also show that with production incentives this product can be competitive. On the other hand, the perception analysis indicated that the sale prices and the public policies do not promote the competitiveness. In this vein, a really efficient policy must be focused on improving the sale prices.
