It has been established that the main cause of failures of field pipelines is hydrogen sulfide cracking of the metal of the sites of the location of the local metallurgical defect of the base metal of the pipes and the weld zone, where along with corrosion ulcers, microcracks of hydrogen sulfide cracking occur, developing during the operation of this section of the pipeline led to damage to the pipelines. Abstract

The article presents the research, methodology and results of visual and measuring control, fractographic studies, spectral analysis, mechanical tests and metallographic studies of damage to field pipelines operated under the influence of hydrogen sulfide-containing oil and gas media. It has been established that the main cause of failures of field pipelines is hydrogen sulfide cracking of the metal of the sites of the location of the local metallurgical defect of the base metal of the pipes and the weld zone, where along with corrosion ulcers, microcracks of hydrogen sulfide cracking occur, developing during the operation of this section of the pipeline led to damage to the pipelines.
