IMAGEM POÉTICA E MEMÓRIA NACIONAL EM A QUEDA DO CÉU, DE DAVI KOPENAWA YANOMAMI E BRUCE ALBERT

Abstract

This essay investigates The falling sky: words of a Yanomami shaman, a book written by Davi Kopenawa Yanomami and Bruce Albert, from philosophical conceptions by Eduardo Viveiros de Castro (2018), Ailton Krenak (2019) and Bruce Albert (1995). Understood by counter colonial theories, his narratives are dotted with poetical allusion which is quite usual on Yanomami’s culture, to mention a few: Xawara’s epidemic, the Hutakara forest and the catastrophic prediction of the falling sky that will trigger the end of the world. Finally, this piece discusses the colonial permanence on Brazilian’s thinking through some narratives that form the official history of Brazil and expand the range of discussion about mineral resources exploitation and pollution.
