Centrifuge model testing at Caltech

Abstract

In the past eight years a variety of model tests has been performed on the geotechnical centrifuge at Caltech. They include soil mechanics experiments, such as static and dynamic pile and foundation tests, and other investigations of a more geographical nature where ground faulting and earthquake motions have been modeled. This paper summarizes and illustrates the studies undertaken.
