In conducting this study, the method used to obtain the root cause of the problem is by using the fault tree analysis (FTA) method. Based on the existing data, the results of the study show that the cause of damage to the radiator is due to corrosion. Abstract

The cooling system is an important part of the diesel power generation system (Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Diesel, PLTD). If the performance of the cooling system is not optimal, it will affect the engine performance and electricity production. One of the problems in the cooling system is the damage to the radiator fins which makes the heat dissipation process in the cooling system not optimal. In conducting this study, the method used to obtain the root cause of the problem is by using the fault tree analysis (FTA) method. Based on the existing data, the results of the study show that the cause of damage to the radiator is due to corrosion. According to this study, it can be concluded that the damage to the PLTD radiator fin is caused by the corrosion factor due to the poor quality of the water used for cleaning.
