Abstract

We present direct measurements using reflection-mode terahertz (THz) time domain spectroscopy (TDS) of amplifying quantum-cascade (QC) metasurfaces used in THz QC-VECSELs. Devices resonant at 2.2 and 2.5 THz are studied under different bias currents, and exhibit gain-induced partial compensation of losses.
