Abstract

The performance of the current location-based routing protocol such as GPSR (greedy perimeter stateless routing) is easily influenced by the rapid movement of destination node. To solve this problem, the RSDLS (routing strategy with distributed location service) is proposed. In RSDLS, DLSs (distributed location servers) are deployed at particular intersections to assist routing. Each DLS keeps records of local nodes within domain range in LNT (local node-location table), and shares LNT among neighbor location servers and maintains several NTs (neighbor tables). Based on the location tables mentioned above, the sender node forwards the data packet to the local location server in premier by GPSR, and the local location server makes the following forwarding decision according to the records of destination node in LNT or NT. The results shows that the RSDLS can achieve a better packet delivery ratio and a lower routing overhead, and is more suitable for VANET (vehicle ad hoc network) where network topology is changed rapidly.
