An interview with Dr. Paulo Nassar, president of the Brazilian Association of Business Communication (ABERJE)

Abstract

In October 2014, the Journal of Professional Communication’s senior associate editor, Dr. Terry Flynn, APR, FCPRS, sat down with the Dr. Paulo Nassar, the president of the Brazilian Association of Business Communication (ABERJE), professor of public relations at the University of Sao Paulo, and 2012 recipient of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) ‘Atlas Award for Lifetime Achievement in International Public Relations,’ to discuss his thoughts on the current state of the profession in Brazil and his hopes for its future. Nassar discusses his background as journalist and a teacher. He discusses the importance of the publication of his first book to his professional development. Nassar also discusses how developing links between ABERJE and the academic research and teaching communities was a key factor in establishing its validity and credibility as an organization.
