Abstract
In this study, the researchers focus in the modeling of the Harmonic Behavior in the Computer Laboratory and the proposed Design of the Power Conditioning System of the Computer Laboratory. The study was conducted in a manner of instrumentation survey and by gathering technical data and load analysis. Technical concepts, theories and their application to signals and signal processing guided this study on the technical feasibility of the design. Results from the study shows that the Computer Laboratory of the college is paying unwanted energy and is at risk of overloading its electrical distribution wirings. A model of the degree of pollution of this unwanted energy which is the harmonic current was developed in the study. Analysis of several mitigation methods was also presented, that gave insights on the viability and economic aspect of the design.Furthermore, the study recommends appropriate action for the installation of the power conditioning system for the Computer Laboratory which could also be adopted by data centers. The emphasis lies not only on the saving that a computer laboratory/data center can obtain but also to the longevity of electrical and electronic equipment and safety welfare of the personnel’s working in the premises.
