According to the 2021 Commencis report, social media usage increased by 72% during the coronavirus pandemic period. According to the Statista 2021 report, the average daily social media usage time in the world has increased to 145 minutes in 2020. Social media addiction scales and diagnos-tic criteria are determined by scientific studies conducted today, and the social effects of conversion to addiction are examined. With the increase in the time that married people spend on social media and especially on social networking sites at the level of strong habits or addictions, there may be a violation of the obligati-ons regarding the marriage union. In particular, violations of the obligations set forth in Article 185/2-3 of the TMK may come to the fore, and acts contrary to the-se obligations may be the subject of a divorce case because the foundation of the marriage union in Article 166/1 of the TMK is shaken.
