Abstract

In Islam, Justice, and Democracy, Sabri Ciftci aims to ‘trace the lineages of political and social justice trajectories and their implications for Muslim support of democracy’. He does so however by not merely regurgitating the same stale, culturally biased approaches to understanding to public opinion by crunching a few numbers with the aim of making them fit within a static and essentialist understanding of Muslims and their politics. Rather Ciftci aims to understand Muslims and their respective approaches to democracy and justice on their own terms.
