How to manage ski resorts in an environmentally friendly way - challenges and lessons learnt.

Abstract

Abstract This chapter aims to encourage cableway operators and ski area managers to introduce environmental management systems (EMSs) in their organizations by presenting different experiences and applications. To this end, the chapter outlines key aspects in different settings by describing two separate case study areas (Schmittenhöhe in Austria, and Bansko in Bulgaria) and presenting the experiences and insights gained in each of them.
