Abstract
Background And Objectives of The Study : Breast carcinoma is one of the leading causes of malignancy in females. B D iagnosis of breast carcinoma is made by histopathology. It is important further to assess the ER, PR, and HER-2 status by IHC, which will provide valuable information to the treating oncologist to plan the management. The purpose of the study was to assess the ER, PR & HER-2, status and correlate with histological grade and other clinicopathological parameters. Methodology: This prospective study of 60 cases from August 2013 to July 2015, diagnosed histopathologically as carcinomas were taken for this study. Immunohistochemical staining was done by the BIOGENEX markers. For ER/PR, Allred score was used and for HER-2, ASCO scoring was used. Histopathological grading was done according to modified Bloom-Richardson’s method. Results : ER, PR, HER-2 status correlated significantly with histological grade. All tumors of grade III tumors were ER/PR- and 55% were HER2+, while none of the grade I tumors were HER2+ and 80% of grade 1 tumor were ER+ and PR+ . Higher percentage of triple negatives were found in this study (34%) ,more so in younger women(<40yrs) with breast carcinoma. Keywords- breast cancer ER ,PR ,HER-2/NEU
