Abstract
A través de un relato etnográfico del desarrollo del proyecto colectivo Gitanos Teatro, en este trabajo se reflexiona sobre los procesos contradictorios de transformación en sus integrantes, originalmente estudiantes de teatro en la Ciudad de México. Se aborda la emergencia de una identidad artística forjada en la academia institucional y su desestabilización, para generar horizontes alternativos en la concepción del arte y su sentido en el ámbito comunitario.
The artistic project of Gitanos Teatro: contrasts and transformations
Abstract
This article employs an ethnographic perspective to discuss the development of the Gitanos Teatro collective project, which originated with theatre students in Mexico City. The author reflects on the contradictory processes of transformation of its members, whose artistic identity was shaped in the academic and institutional context. The young members of the group eventually challenged and destabilized this context, leading to an alternative conception of art and its sense at within grassroots communities.

The Journal Cuadernos de Música, Artes Visuales y Artes Escénicas was created in January 2004 at the School of Arts of Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá.
