Servocell ‘smart’ locks strike out at solenoids

The foyer of PBT's offices has on display demonstration Servocell actuators. It also has a sculpted sweeping chunk of glass commemorating, a Smart Award. Technology director, Simon Powell, who appears briefly in reception, is about to interview a materials engineer working in piezo materials for print head technology. ‘Skills,’ he says, ‘that are rarer than rocking horse manure’. Asked about PBT's manufacturing capacity (PBT office clearly has its laboratory but no manufacturing facilities), Powell says that capacity is already signed up in a Japanese plant and at two Malaysian sites.
