The Genus Neopsilenchus Thorne & Malek, 1968 (Nematoda: Tylenchidae)

Abstract

This paper deals with the genus Neopsilenchus Thorne & Malek, 1968. Type material of N. magnidens, N. minor, N. (Neopsilenchus) peshawarensis and N. (N.) curvistylus besides the Iranian populations of N. magnidens were examined by light microscopy. The main differentiating characters of the genus, cylindroid stylet and rod-shaped sperm, are discussed. N. minor, N. (N.) peshawarensis and N. (N.) curvistylus are synonymized with N. magnidens. The diagnosis of the genus is emended and a key to the species provided.
