Socio-Economic Factors Influencing the Adoption of CG7 Groundnut Technology in Malawi

Abstract

The study aimed at determining the socio-economic factors affecting the adoption of groundnut technology in Malawi. A multi-stage cluster sampling procedure involving a combination of purposeful and random sampling procedures was used to select 200 farmers in the Central region which produces about 70% of the total groundnut crop in Malawi. The negative binomial model employed showed that adoption of CG7 groundnut technology was affected by farm size, level of education, family labour, seed input price and groundnut farm price.
