Nuova iscrizione di Publio Claudio Abascanto, liberto delle Tre Gallie

Abstract

EnglishA new inscription of Publius Claudius Abascantus, freedman of the Tres Galliae. P. Claudius Abascantus, former slave and freedman of the Tres Galliae, lived in Ostia between the last Antonines emperors and the Severan age; he contracted various marriages and had many children, some of them dead in their young age and commemorated by their father with statues and other honours in the sanctuary of Magna Mater. The new inscription enables a better establishment of the familial connections of Abascantus, quinquennalis of the corpus of the dendrophores, and highlights his peculiar devotion towards the Magna Mater. italianoP. La nuova iscrizione aiuta a meglio stabilire i suoi legami familiari e mette in evidenza la speciale devozione per la Grande Dea di Abascanto, quinquennale del corpus dei dendrofori.
