Four Wheel Drive (4Wd) Vehicles in the Outer Urban Area Alan Eade

Abstract

The Metropolitan Ambulance Service (MAS) services an area of 11,000 sq.km most of which is urban or outer urban in its topography. Despite this topographic environment there are pockets within this response area which present substantial access and egress difficulties to emergency response services. In recognition of the difficult terrain that must be overcome in some emergency responses the MAS has developed its second generation four wheel drive (4WD) recovery vehicle.
