Study of Sino-US Intra-industry Trade in a Perspective of Intra-product International Specialization

Abstract

The paper makes an analysis of the development of processing trade and parts and components trade of China,and a statistical account of the level of intra-industry trade of Sino-US main trade commodities between 1987 and 2006 from a perspective of China's participation in intra-product international specialization.It showed that the Sino-US trade structure and the level of Sino-US intra-industry trade had distinctly improved.Based on the empirical study,the paper examines several influential factors.The result indicates that the intra-product international specialization plays a significant role in promoting the level of intra-industry trade of Sino-US high technology industries,medium technology industries and total industries.Therefore the further improvement of China's position in the intra-product international specialization is of great significance to improve the level of Sino-US intra-industry trade.
