GIE (400 mg/kg and 800 mg/kg) and the reference drug Liv.52 (500 mg/kg) were administered orally for 29 days to ATD (isoniazid 7.5 mg/kg, rifampicin 10 mg/kg, and pyrazinamide 35 mg/kg)-treated rats. GIE attenuated significantly the ATD-elevated levels of aspartate aminotransferase, alanine transaminase, alkaline phosphatase, bilirubin, and malondialdehyde and restored the ATD- depleted levels of glutathione (GSH), superoxide dismutase, catalase, GSH peroxidase, and GSH reductase.
