Longevidade escolar em alunos de camadas populares

Abstract

This article presents the results of a literature review on the explanatory factors associated to the school longevity of students of popular classes in the Brazilian context. Thus, articles, dissertations and theses published in the period from 1990 to 2014 were consulted. As a result, it was noticed that the researches about the subject tend to explain the school longevity in popular strata from eight main explanatory categories: (a) family practices of schooling; (b) individual mobilization; (c) share capital; (d) unique socioeconomic characteristics; (e) school influence; (f) teacher influence; (g) constituted dispositions; and (h) occurrence of favorable circumstances: partial school successes and random events.
