ANÁLISE ECONOMÉTRICA DA POBREZA EM SEU ASPECTO MULTIDIMENSIONAL NAS CINCO MESORREGIÕES DO ESTADO DE GOIÁS

Abstract

For a long time, the term poverty was analyzed from the perspective of income. As of the 1980s, this understanding changed and poverty started to be observed in its multidimensional aspect, in which factors such as employment, education, health, infrastructure are also considered for its characterization. The objective of the work is to analyze how poverty is configured in the five mesoregions of Goias in its multidimensional aspect. This is intended to highlight which areas are deficient and contribute to the maintenance and inclusion of a portion of the population of Goias defined as needy. The research explained the history of the concept of poverty and presented econometric models with socioeconomic variables taken from renowned databases, for each mesoregion. It was noticed that in all mesoregions the level of income and social inequality are relevant factors to explain the percentage of the existing poor.
