Abstract

The authors expose the conclusions of the micro historical analysis of “The Astillero” a Cantabric district, between 1890 and 1910. It has experimented a process of demographic, economic, social, political and cultural modernization that transformed “The Astillero”, a traditional rural society, into a suburban area with complex social and cultural characteristics.
