Methods of Glycosuria Testing: A Reference for Nursing Personnel

Abstract

Although the currently available tests for glycosuria are not difficult to perform, research has shown nurses and auxiliary personnel to be inaccurate in the performance and/ or interpretation of the tests l .3-phenomena which can adversely affect the patient's therapeutic regimen . Derr'' observed that nurses "are often casual about urine testing procedures ." Schumann" reported that "studies suggest that not only do many nurses not understand how to conduct urine tests but that nurses are among the most careless in performing them. "
