Abstract

SuperŽ cial Subdermal Liposuction (SSL) represents a milestone in body sculpting surgery, because it allows skin retraction, permits better treatment of very slight adiposities and secondary cases, and gives more effective and predictable results. The Authors present their technique of liposuction related to the anatomy of the fat: the knowledge of the anatomy of the subcutaneous tissue explains the SSL from an anatomical point of view and how it works in the different areas of the body. The authors also present their experience with External Ultrasound (EU) used in conjunction with SSL. Pre-treatment with EU is safe, helps to improve skin retraction, reduces the skin irregularities and the ‘cellulitic’ aspect of the skin. It makes the combination of EU 1 SSL more effective especially in areas where the fat is more Ž brous, such as the dorsal thoracic fat, or in secondary cases.
