Rural Russia's Values and Values Orientations

Abstract

This article identifies the main values and value orientations of Russia's rural population in the areas of labor, material well-being, family, and health, as well as changes in the hierarchy of values that began in the late 1990s. It is concluded that this population has a stable value structure primarily centered on nonmaterial values. Also noted are features of value systems among rural populations that could serve to cause changes and a return to traditional values.
