The Imposition of Values: Reflections on a Contemporary Educational Problem

Abstract

The author argues that values imposition involves unjustifiable pressure to force norms on people. Although opposing imposition, he contends that it occurs within mono-cultural, cross-cultural, and multi-cultural settings. The problem is seen as an opportunity to engage students and teachers in judgments that are at the heart of educative activities.
