The BSHM: the first fifty years

Abstract

The British Society for the History of Mathematics (BSHM), founded in 1971 and the oldest national society for the history of mathematics, is celebrating its half-century. This article describes how and why the Society was founded, and what it has achieved over its first fifty years.
