KEMAMPUAN BERPIKIR KRITIS MATEMATIS SISWA SMP PADA MATERI RELASI DAN FUNGSI

Abstract

Mathematical critical thinking ability is one of the important components to improve students' mathematical abilities, especially for junior high school students (SMP). The results of research conducted by PISA explain the low mathematical ability of students in Indonesia when compared to other countries. Therefore, researchers will conduct research on students' mathematical critical thinking skills in one of the junior high schools in Karawang. The purpose of this study was to describe the mathematical critical thinking skills of junior high school students in the subjects of relations and functions. Qualitative research with descriptive method is used in this study. The subjects in this study consisted of 6 students, namely 2 students in the high category, 2 students in the medium category, and 2 students in the low category. The data collection technique was obtained from a description of 5 questions with a processing time of 60 minutes which was used as a test instrument. The results showed that the mathematical critical thinking skills possessed by some students were still relatively low. This can be seen from the description in this study which concluded that many of the students were only able to master several indicators of mathematical critical thinking ability.
