Abstract
Abstract This contribution attempts to show that a small number of toponyms in Jura continues Latin derivatives in -ĀNU (most often inflected in the plural) based on nomina gentilicia in -ius. The use of this technique of formation has never been reported in this department. The author suggests that this characteristic Latin model of naming fundi spread in the southern part of the city of Sequanes from the Rhodanian Narbonensis, under the influence of Vienne. Its use denotes foundations and eponymous families who played a pioneering role in the process of romanization.
