Abstract
Mycotic aneurysms, one of the most important complications of bacteremic Salmonella infection, are endovascular infections with a frequency of 25-35% in patients older than 50 years. Bacterial agents such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Treponema pallidum, Salmonella species, Staphylococcus species, and Streptococcus pneumonia can be counted among the infectious causes. We report a 74-year-old immunocompetent male patient who had a mycotic aneurysm of the iliac artery due to Salmonella typhi. Mycotic aneurysm caused by S. typhi is rare in the literature; it should be kept in mind that S. typhi can be a cause of infection in vascular tissue.
