Abstract
The present investigation is an exercise in historical lexicology working with a group of voices with the usual coinage of Americanisms and the objective is to examine whether from the diasystem or from synchrony they can be understood, precisely. The methodology consists of two parts: first being a process of collation and lexical filtering with some linguistic tools in Spanish such as dictionaries, linguistic monographs and linguistic corpus and second being strictly lexicological-lexicographical phase, where semantics, polysemy and possible homonymy are explored. The information collected, therefore, comes from the textual level, which is why, most often, found data may contradict Spanish as a fact of architecture or official lexicography. In short, these units are a group of voices neither exemplary or standard nor provincial relative to the standard language.
