Abstract
: There are several reports on the therapeutic effects of Curcuma longa in traditional medicine such as anti-inflammatory, antinociceptive, hepatoprotective, and antioxidant effects. The present research investigated the analgesic effect of this plant compared to sodium salicylate. The methanol extract of Curcuma longa was prepared using the percolation method. Various doses of root extract (100, 200, and 300 mg/kg) and sodium salicylate (300 mg/kg) were injected intraperitoneally. The analgesic activity of these two materials was assessed using tail flick test for the acute pain and formalin test for chronic pain. Results: All doses of extract and sodium salicylate showed a significant analgesic effect compared to the control group in tail flick test and the second of phase the formalin test (P<0.05). Conclusion: It appears that Curcuma Longa induces its inhibitory acute chronic pain.
