Indicadores bibliométricos: origen, definición y aplicaciones científicas en el ecuadorR

Abstract

The great scientific diversity and the globalization of world literature have led to the need to create new systems of evaluation, measurement, qualification and comparison of the quality of scientific results from the evolution of information technologies in the XXI century. In connotation to this need, techniques have emerged that contain scales and indicators for the quantification, evaluation and qualification of the effect of a scientific publication. Currently, these software (vosviewer - citnetexplorer  and shape of science) are considered useful as tools for measuring the quality of research methods in bibliometric terms and are controversial given their questioned independence, representativeness and validity in different scientific areas. The main objective of this article is to explore the origins, definitions and scientific applications applied to Ecuadorian cases. Finally, focus on the constant development of the different databases and bibliometric tools applied to the academic or business world.
