Abstract
The Broström lateral ankle ligament repair is the gold standard for treatment of ankle instability, but there is always the concern that without augmentation the repair might fail over time. There is growing evidence, both from cadaver studies and clinical research, that augmentation with a suture tape construct significantly add to the strength and durability of a standard repair. Not only does it increase the time zero strength, but it also allows for a more aggressive rehabilitation program and earlier return to sports without compromising the primary repair. This chapter will highlight the technique and pointers to improve results while avoiding pitfalls.
