However, by early second trimester there had been a sharp increase in the abundance and length of these fibrillin-containing microfibrils. These observations are consistent with early second trimester being a key phase of fibrillin assembly. In the third trimester, fibrillin-containing microfibrils were frequently isolated in association with amorphous material. Abstract

Intact type VI collagen microfibrils and fibrillin-containing microfibrils were isolated from foetal bovine skin and investigated immunochemically and ultrastructurally.
