Demonstration of autonomic nerves in transplanted arteries in rabbits.

Abstract

Histochemical and cytochemical studies were performed on the autonomic innervation of normal and transplanted femoral arteries in rabbits. These arteries appear to have both adrenergic and cholinergic innervation. Adrenergic reinnervation was apparent in the transplanted arteries shortly after the grafting procedure, however, the innervation decreased or disappeared with time.
