  1. The glycanes of the glycopeptides obtained by the proteolytic digestion of the insoluble fractions of pig and rabbit corneal stroma were studied.

  2. The following molecular parameters, characteristic of the fibrous network, are significantly different in the corneas under investigation:

  (a) The ratio of the hexoses in the mannose containing heteropolysaccharides.

• 2.

  (b) The ratio of the hydroxylysine linked galactose to the glucosido-galactose.

• 3.

  (c) The ratio of the hydroxylysine linked carbohydrates to the heteropolysaccharides.
