OIG finds Amtrak can do more to support passengers with disabilities

Abstract

Nearly one in four college students have used Amtrak or another passenger rail service to travel to or from their postsecondary school, according to a survey from the Midwest Interstate Passenger Rail Commission. Students with disabilities often prefer traveling by train over an airplane due to the comfort, accessibility, and independence offered. However, in a recent report, the Amtrak Office of Inspector General found that Amtrak, the largest passenger rail provider in the U.S., can do more to support passengers with disabilities.
