Une histoire de la médecine humanitaire

Abstract

L’histoire de la médecine humanitaire remonte à plusieurs siècles. Le début du XX^e a vu l’émergence des ONG anglo-saxonnes, puis celle des French doctors après la guerre du Biafra en 1968. La médecine humanitaire est étroitement liée au droit international humanitaire, dans lequel Henry Dunant occupe une place à part. Depuis les années 1980, le sans frontiérisme a accompagné toutes les crises géopolitiques et les guerres. La médecine humanitaire est confrontée aujourd’hui à de nombreux nouveaux enjeux, avec un changement de nature des conflits dont le terrorisme en est l’exemple le plus probant.

The history of humanitarian medicine goes back several centuries. The beginning of the 20th century saw the emergence of Anglo-Saxon NGOs, then that of the French Doctors after the Biafran war in 1968. Humanitarian medicine is closely linked to international humanitarian law, in which Henry Dunant occupies a special place. Since the 1980s, without borders has accompanied all geopolitical crises and wars. Humanitarian medicine is facing many new challenges today, with a change in the nature of conflicts, of which terrorism is the most convincing example.
