Abstract
Recent registry data suggest that unprovoked isolated distal deep vein thrombosis (UIDDVT) has a higher risk of recurrence, potentially comparable to unprovoked proximal DVT. Our retrospective analysis of prospectively collected data corroborates this finding, with a 5-year incidence rate of 4.45% versus 0.77% per person-years in the UIDDVT and provoked IDDVT groups respectively.
