Abstract

The John N. Belkin Memorial Award is presented by the American Mosquito Control Association to scientists who have made significant contributions to our knowledge of taxonomy or biology of mosquitoes. The importance of the award and the selection process for honorees are explained in this paper. Short biographies for the 46 recipients are presented. The current state of mosquito systematics is examined.
