Addictive screen use common, linked to suicidal behaviors

Abstract

A recent study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) found that almost one third of adolescents who use social media, video games, and mobile phones become addicted to their screens. Furthermore, the researchers found that addictive screen use was associated with mental health problems, including suicidal behaviors and suicidal ideation. The higher the addictive trajectory, the more likely suicidal behaviors were.
