Abstract

This commentary highlights significant research gaps identified during the creation of the ASAM/AAAP Clinical Practice Guideline (CPG) on the Management of Stimulant Use Disorder (StUD). These included further research into the implementation of contingency management for StUD, pharmacotherapy options for StUD, evaluation and treatment of stimulant-induced psychosis, harm reduction techniques, and better defining a stimulant overdose. Further research concerning other populations impacted by stimulant use, including adolescents, pregnant and incarcerated individuals, and minoritized populations, is also urgently needed.
