Abstract
The effects of social acceleration on mental health and psychiatric practices can be analyzed by combining Hartmut Rosa's sociological theories, Eugène Minkowski's phenomenology of lived time and Vincenzo Di Nicola's slow thought movement. It may be proposed to introduce a genuine culture of time into psychiatric care, by developing a particular sensitivity to the intimate rhythm of patients, and promoting synchrony and therapeutic attunement. Inspired by the slow movement, this culture of time calls for practices that are more attuned to the subjective experience of those being cared for, illustrated by concrete examples drawn from Zen thought in particular.
