Abstract

Let R be a finite group, and let T be a subgroup of R. We show that there are at most7.3722[R:T]log2[R:T]4+1.8919 subgroups of R containing T.

The Journal of Pure and Applied Algebra concentrates on that part of algebra likely to be of general mathematical interest: algebraic results with immediate applications, and the development of algebraic theories of sufficiently general relevance to allow for future applications.
