Media convergence on androids and journalistic practice: A study of the use of channels television mobile application among professionals in Lagos

Abstract

We investigated the impact of media through androids on information gathering, dissemination and reception by examining the perceived usefulness, ease and use of the Channels TV mobile app among busy professionals in Lagos. Using a purposive sampling method, a questionnaire and interview were deployed to gather data from two groups; identified professionals in Lagos who used the Channels TV app on Androids for accessing news and the management staff of Channels TV. Findings revealed that busy professionals who are always on the road transmitting from home to office, find the app convenient and easy to use to use to catch daily news highlights. Also, Channels mobile enhances media convergence through the provision of multimedia media content across multiple channels to satisfy the audience's appetite.
