[Renal tumours].

Abstract

This review finds that renal tumours are a frequent finding on imaging examinations of the abdomen. The majority are simple benign cysts. Complex cysts must be Bosniak classified and monitored or treated according to the classification. A diagnostic biopsy is recommended for solid tumours between 2 and 4 cm, if clinically relevant. Hereditary predisposition syndromes with an increased risk of kidney tumours are rare, but as they lead to an increased risk of kidney cancer, it is important to get the diagnosis to take the best care of the patient in relation to optimal treatment and follow-up.
